DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY
Umbria has a green and hilly territory with olive groves and vineyards, rich in art cities and quaint towns.
Placed in Central Italy between Rome and Florence, Umbria is a region rich in history and culture, from the hilly landscape with olive groves and vineyards, and dotted with historic villages and artistic cities such as Perugia (important international University Centre), Spoleto, Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, Spello and others.
15 minutes from Perugia is located Lake Trasimeno, the largest Italian lake after that of Como.
Umbria delights its visitors with a stunning natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage. Local truffles, olive oil, asparagus, funghi porcini, and famous Sangiovese wines will ensure food lovers will be in for a treat when visiting one of the region’s many excellent restaurants.
The climate is mild with temperatures in winter rarely fall below zero degrees and summer temperatures around 25 degrees.
The region is the scene of major cultural events throughout the year (such as the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto and Umbria Jazz) and many other folk events which, especially in summer, enliven small and large centers of the entire territory.

Larger events, like weddings or events with other participants in addition to those that have rented the villa, can take place in the room and courtyard on the ground floor or in the garden and olive groove. For large events and event fee will be asked, that will depend on the number of guests and kind of event.
San Lorenzo history...
The whole territory belonged to the order of the Knights Templar and the complex, during the XIII century, was home to Benedictine monks before and Franciscan then, hosting the Clarisse nuns, followers of St. Francis. The monastery consists of a part designed for the accommodation for the nuns and monks and a nearby church of Romanesque origin with an beautiful and well preserved crypt.
According to tradition, Jacopone da Todi took refuge on 1306 here and died in the church on Christmas night of that year.
Fra Jacopone da Todi, (ca. 1230 – 25 December 1306) was a Franciscan friar, very popular in Italy and still venerated. He wrote several laudi (songs in praise of the Lord) in the local vernacular. He was an early pioneer in Italian theatre, being one of the earliest scholars who dramatised Gospel subjects.
The monastery was home to the Countess Matilde di Collazzone, that died here on 1240, her daughters were Clarisse nuns, a son was Saint Simone a franciscan monk patron of the nearby village of Collazzone living with Saint Francis, and another son died during the Crusades.
In 1520 a girl was sent to San Lorenzo, historical information demonstrated that she was the illegitimate daughter of a countess of Perugia and Emperor Charles V.
During the XIX century Napoleon confiscated this complex, that was sold to the great-grandfather of the current owner, he created in San Lorenzo a big mill for oil processing. Nowadays, in the garden are still visible the huge millstones used to crush olives and obtain the local extra virgin olive oil and, in the large room on the ground floor, is possible to admire dozens of stone jugs used to store oil.
