Set in a fairytale scenery, the Medieval Castle in Todi was built around the year 1000 and still preserves its evocative original beauty in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
It offers peace and tranquillity, you'll be taken back to the Middle Ages. Perfect location for weddings and special events.
The panoramic location, with a magnificent view over Todi, was actually a strategic choice in the Medieval Age: the Tower of the castle was in fact part of a system of towers made from the alert function in the case of dangers for the city.
Over the centuries the building lost its function and was fully renovated, restored and transformed into a prestigious and comfortable residence.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VILLA WITH TOWER
The castle is spread over several levels, of which the first three are connected with internal elevator.
The ground floor features a large living/dining room with fireplace, a well equipped kitchen and a service bathroom. The kitchen has direct access to the garden and the panoramic terrace equipped with table, chairs and umbrellas for outside dining or events.
The first floor, reached by internal stairs, elevator or a stone staircase leading to a seond entrance, is composed by a large elegent living room with fireplace divided by a double arch supported by a column. This is surely one of the most enchanting rooms of the villa with a magnificent tapestry dating back to the XVII century.
Still on this level but with independent access from the courtyard, we find a characteristic twin bedroom with arched ceiling and small en suite toilet.
On the second floor, the sleeping area comprises three bedrooms with private bathrooms: 1 master double bedroom with canopy bed, fireplace and an en-suite bathroom with bath, 1 double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and amazing views of Todi, and 1 twin bedroom with small en sute tooilet. On the same floor there is a lovely living room/studio with fireplace and wooden loft library, from which you can access the Tower through a wooden staircase with handrail.
The Tower Suite is a charming area of the castle, with total privacy and amazing views, but is not ideal for guests with restricted mobility, due to the staircase. It is composed by a room with library and a (very comfortable) double sofa-bed, on the same lavel there is a bathroom with bathtub. On the upper level, reached by another flight of wooden staircase, there is a double bedroom (canopy bed) with skylight and scenic windows. Te tower suite can be used by a family that can share the bathroom or by the newlyweds when the castle is chosen as wedding venue.
Please, note that the first 2 floors of the castle are connected by elevator, and the tower floor are reachable through wooden stairs with handrail.
The Castle has been fully restored in the past years, it is regulary maintained and is in general good conditions, it preserves the authentic atmosphere of a medieval castle.
Inside we find terracotta tiled floors, wooden and terracotta ceilings, stone fireplaces, even in the rooms, and original wooden framing.
GARDEN AND POOL
The property is surrounded by 1.7 hectares of land with an Italian style garden, partly bordered by high stone walls. Within it we find the classic elements of this garden type: amphitheatre, hedges, a gracious pond with water jets, fountains and a splendid pergola with outdoor furniture for eating 'al fresco' . All these elements, together with the magnificent view, create an impressive scenic effect.
In front of the villa there is a large area with outdoor furniture for large groups: 2 long tables, several chairs, a large umbrella. Then the park offers many corners with table and chairs to have rest or have a breakfast, near a fountain or under the amazing wisteria pergolas (withe and purple wisteria). The pergolas have night lights and can be the location of an intimate and romatic dinner with the scent of the wisteria flowers.
In a private scenic position within the park, and facing south-west, we find the beautiful swimming pool of 10 x 5 metres size. There are 8 loungers to sunbath.
On the boarders of the park, within the stone walls of the property, there is a large private parking area
The castle is ideal for intimate weddings and events (20/ 30 people) but can be the set of larger weddings, up to 50/70 people, on request.
We can suggest an experienced wedding planner that knows the property and can cover all aspects: ceremony, decorations, catering, music, photo service, legal aspects and more.
Depending on the number of participants, we ask an Event Fee for weddings or events at the castle. the property can accommodate up to 12 people, however we cooperate with a nearby B&B in a country house with pool, walking distance from the castle, that can accommodate up to 20 people, the nightly rate includes breakfast.
